Ilkay Gundogan said Manchester City were ready to learn the lessons from the club’s first Premier League defeat of the season.

City were edged out 4-3 in a remarkable game at Liverpool with Gundogan, Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva all on target for Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, a three-goal Liverpool blast inside nine second half minutes proved decisive as City lost their first league game since last April.

“We are very disappointed but we have to accept it, keep our focus and look forward to our next game,” said Ilkay.

“It continues and we won’t stop.

“The title race is still in our own hands and we are still in a comfortable position but we need to learn from today.

“We need to learn from those 10 minutes when we conceded three goals and look to keep on improving.

“Pep said it would be nearly impossible to go all season without losing. We are disappointed but now we must look ahead.”
