Pep Guardiola warned his Manchester City side will have to be wary of Liverpool’s threat on the break at Anfield on Sunday.
The Catalan acknowledged the talents of several of the Red’ forwards, including top scorer Mohamed Salah and credited Jurgen Klopp’s expertise when it comes to turning defence into attack.
Addressing the press at Friday’s press conference, Guardiola said: “Of course, Jurgen Klopp is a master of the counter-attack.
“It’s a team that within three or four touches arrive in the finishing area.
“They have guys who can control, especially when we lose the ball in dangerous positions – Salah and [Sadio] Mane – because they are so fast, so quick and they are so clever in the box.”
The manager also revealed he expects the forward trio of Salah, Mane and Roberto Firminio to press his defenders high up the pitch, while at the back he feels the addition of Virgil Van Dijk will improve the Reds’ build up play.
