Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are weighing up options for the January transfer window – but added that the club is under no pressure to bring in new recruits.
Ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round clash with Burnley, City are hunting for silverware on four fronts, having opened up a 15-point lead in the Premier League, reached the last 16 of the Champions League and secured a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final place against Bristol City.
But though that hectic schedule will place tough demands on his squad, Pep says finding the right players to sign in January isn’t easy
“We are working - not just for this month - but for the future,” said Pep. “The toughest time to buy players is now. If it doesn’t happen, OK, we go with the guys we have.”
Sean Dyche’s side have emerged as one of the big success stories from the first half of the season and currently lie in seventh place in the table.
And Pep had plenty of praise for the work overseen by the Burnley boss and his players.
“What he has done and what they have done is amazing,” he said. “After the five or six contenders for the Premier League, the next is Burnley.”
