Pep Guardiola has stated that Benjamin Mendy is doing “much better” in his recovery.

The Blues defender ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the first half of our 5-0 win against Crystal Palace earlier in the season.

When asked about the Frenchman’s return, Pep responded: “I don’t know, but he is much much better – especially over the past week or 10 days as he has been training with us.

“It’s a long injury but he is making the progress.”

In the press conference the boss was asked whether Mendy would be fit to return for the Manchester derby, to which Pep replied: “I don’t know, I can’t anticipate it.”
