The record-breaking Blues have rewritten the history books with their exploits this campaign and added most goals, points and wins to an ever-increasing list with victory against Brighton - but the Catalan boss is determined to add one or two more on Sunday.
“I feel good,” said Pep. “We had to maintain our level to break those records. We had to maintain our intensity. We have 97 points, have scored a lot of goals and won a lot of games, that is a consequence of the season we have done.
“Now we want 100 points and finish this almost perfect season in the Premier League.
“We spoke about history and writing a new page. I cannot forget the 1980s when Liverpool were dominating, with Dalglish and Rush, and United in the 1990s with Sir Alex Ferguson and we are so happy he is out of intensive care.
“After Sir Alex came Jose Mourinho with Petr Cech and Frank Lampard. The Invincibles, Wenger, Henry, Vieira… the way they play.
“These teams deserve to be the best, but we beat them… I am not saying we are better because we need more years of success, but in one season we were better.
“Maybe now we are not aware of what we have done. The record will be broken but whoever breaks it needs to do a lot of good things. It’s a fantastic night for us.
“Always we will remember the day we broke the records and it was the night for Yaya. Yaya will always be part of the Club. I felt love in the crowd and the locker room, his speech was amazing - it was a perfect night for us.
“I agree that to be considered one of the best, you have to win more, but in terms of stats and numbers, we were the best. That’s why we are so satisfied. That’s why a team will arrive better than us, but they have to be really, really good.
“When we arrived here, it’s because I knew a lot of people on the board, especially Txiki and Ferran.
“We came here together to build something good. We are so satisfied with the process. We are so happy in these 19 months. Today we can say it doesn’t matter but all the 11 players, the way they commit, Zinchenko controlling Knockaert… there is a lot of good things for our future.
“The big clubs is not just winning titles, it’s always being there, competing to win. In April, May, being there, fighting to win.
“Sometimes we will do, sometimes not because the others are good. But I want to convince the players to do that.”
Pep also admitted that he was looking forward to a well-earned break in the coming weeks when asked if he was sad the campaign was almost over.
“No, I need my holidays!” he smiled. “I want to finish. But first we want to go to Southampton. We want to try and make 100 points. It would be nice.
“A lot of people say it can’t get better than this season, but there are many, many things we can do better.
“The standard is high. Our party last Sunday was all together. We feel like a Club working in the same way. That’s good for our future.”
