Yaya Toure says he couldn’t have wished for a more perfect way to bow out as a Manchester City player after an emotional send-off at the Etihad following the 3-1 win over Brighton.

The midfield maestro is moving on this summer after eight memorable years with the Club and he was given a rapturous reception by the City fans last night.

And as he reflected on the occasion, Yaya insisted he was happy rather than sad at saying goodbye.

“It was a fantastic occasion and I was just happy to help the team break more records,” said Yaya.

“It was a special and amazing to hear the fans singing my name for the last time.

“I’m not sad – I’m happy because I am leaving the club in a great position

“The team have been brilliant all season, we have dominated this league and destroyed so many teams.

“And I hope this continueS in the future for the team.”

There was an extra special surprise for Yaya, with his brother Kolo appearing on the pitch at full time to make a special presentation.

“It was so special to see Kolo there - especially in his suit and I want to say thank you to the chairman and everyone for what they have done for me,” Yaya added.
