City moved back to the top of the Premier League table after Riyad Mahrez’s early strike sealed the 1-0 win at Wembley.
The victory also marked City’s sixth successive clean sheet in the competition, and Laporte states that it’s down to the high-level of Pep Guardiola’s squad.
“It’s a pleasure to play with these teammates and top players,” the 24-year-old told CityTV. “It’s a very complete squad and it makes it easy to do my job – it’s easier playing alongside these high-level players.”
With the top of the table looking increasingly tighter, Laporte explained the importance of the three points at this stage.
“The most important thing tonight was the three points for the team tonight because all of the other teams at the top won over the weekend so the most important thing was winning,” Laporte added.
“It was very tough because of the condition of the pitch and the team we had in front of us but we did what we wanted to do and we are happy with that.”
