City began this season’s Champions League campaign with a defeat to Lyon.
And after the game, John Stones spoke to CityTV.
The defender believes the two first-half goals City conceded killed the game, and says we need to bounce back quickly to ensure we get out of Group F.
“Conceding two sloppy goals kind of set the game off,” he said.
“We weren’t at our best and we didn’t play the football everyone knows we can play.
“We created chances, gave everything in the second half but two goals in the first half cost us the game and that’s the harsh reality of the Champions League.”
Asked if Pep Guardiola serving a touchline ban had a negative effect on City’s performance, Stones said: “No, definitely not. We’re all so comfortable with how everything works. It would have been good if pep had been there, but Mikel stepped in and did a great job. Everyone knows their own roles and responsibilities.
