Pep delighted with Gabriel Jesus input
Pep Guardiola says he is more than happy with Gabriel Jesus’ performances this season.
The Brazilian striker has scored one goal this campaign and started several games from the bench, but Pep says he couldn’t be more pleased with his contribution to the team.
“He is happy,” said the boss.
“His performances are very good. His movement, his high pressing is excellent and he works very hard, but he is still young and of course, he has areas he can improve o

“We are going to help him in final third and he has desire to improve – we will help him in training with that.”
Pep also dismissed the suggestion Jesus is fatigued from his exploits in Russia this summer, adding: “I wasn’t there (at the World Cup), but he is young and that’s a big challenge.”
When asked about the Blues’ midweek loss to Lyon, Pep said: “I’ve never sat down here after my first season thinking we are invincible - there are many things to improve.
“Whenever we talk about how good we are it’s in the past and already done.
“The players are human and have families, but reason I’m always here is the new challenges.
“Well we are going to try to respond, that was so important for us last season. The Champions League is different competition and difference circumstances.
“After a defeat, the next game is most important. It’s a mental game and winning improves confidence.
“Last season, what we did was incomparable and something I’ve never seen in my life.
“I don’t know if we lose games but if we do, I hope it’s not many - but I know what they can do.
“So I say smile when we win, cry when we lose, but I need to convince them to be on top and that’s so demanding.”
