Pep Guardiola says Gabriel Jesus will rise to the challenge as Manchester City look to reclaim top spot in the Premier League when we play host to Cardiff City on Wednesday night.
With the boss confirming that Sergio Aguero will miss the game due to the slight injury he picked up in our 2-0 win at Fulham at the weekend, Jesus will step into the breach up-front.
The youngster has had to be patient for opportunities this season with Aguero in formidable form but he has still made a key contribution, netting 17 goals to date across all competitions.
And the manager said City were fortunate to be able to call upon a player of Jesus’s quality in Aguero‘s absence.

Asked if he was confident in Jesus, the manager said: “Of course. He has made a good season.
“It’s not easy to play in this club as a striker. Sergio Aguero is a legend and this season has been his best since they’ve been together.
“But at the same when he plays he plays well and Gabriel will help us tomorrow with his goals and his fight and his ability to create spaces for others and he will do a good job.”
