Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola called for a quick response from his players following Champions League quarter-final heartache against Spurs.
A delightful curling effort in the opening five minutes from Raheem Sterling and a deflected Bernardo Silva strike had cancelled out Son Heung-Min’s quickfire brace within the opening quarter of an hour.
City were then in front on the night when Sterling tapped home Kevin De Bruyne’s 21st minute cutback, before Sergio Aguero put us 4-3 ahead on aggregate with a powerful near post finish just before the hour mark.
Nonetheless, despite the Blues’ best efforts, Spurs substitute Fernando Llorente’s bundled effort from a corner with 20 minutes to go proved decisive, seeing the visitors progress into the last four courtesy of their superior away goal tally.

With the Lilywhites back at the Etihad in the Premier League on Saturday, Guardiola insisted that his players needed to refocus on their domestic commitments: “We have to react, close time, same team.
“But don’t think too much right now, sleep as much as possible and then we will prepare for the game.”
Irrespective of their Champions League disappointment City can still complete a domestic treble, and with this in mind the Blues boss was keen to stress the importance of a positive result in a few days’ time.
He added: “We fought a lot, nine, ten months for the Premier League. It’s in our hands.
“It’s tough, of course, but we have to do it.”
