Manchester City retained the Community Shield after a penalty shootout win over Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, with City winning 5-4 on pens.

Claudio Bravo was the hero, making a number of impressive saves in the second half of the match, before denying Gini Wijnaldum in the shoot-out.

And afterwards, Pep Guardiola expressed his delight at Bravo’s form, describing the Chilean as the match winner.

“I was really impressed,” he said. “Not just now, but in preseason. After what happened, he is not a young guy.

“His build up, he was calm and he won the game for us today. Everyone made an incredible contribution but he won the game.

“He is an incredible second keeper. He saved the game many times today and of course, he had to save the penalty.”
