Despite being widely considered as one of the best teams on the planet, Guardiola wants his side to continue improving and developing for the foreseeable future.

“It’s just to play to improve,” said Guardiola. “To do what we have to do to improve our dynamics. Not just for the next month or the next period, but for the future.

“So, we can become better players and a better manager and a better club in every sense. You always have a reason to compete, there’s no doubt about that.”

City bounced back from the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers with a hard-fought win over the Blades and Guardiola was pleased to see the determination to win from his players.

“They showed me that they want to do it. When they want to do it then we can improve,” he continued. “In February we’ll get more time to have a break and train again.

“We are going to fight until the end to be up there in the best conditions.”
