Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes David Silva still has a huge part to play before the end of the current Premier League campaign.

The Spanish midfielder is in the final six months of his ten-season stint at the club, but is currently side-lined with a leg injury picked up in the Manchester Derby.

But with three goals and eight assists already to his name in the Premier League, Guardiola is convinced the little magician can conjure up some more moments of magic before May.

He said: “When David plays, he plays good. The problem is now he is injured and, in some moments, I play others.

“But when he plays, David is at his highest competitiveness and desire to play.

“He is going to give us incredible moments for the rest of the season, I am pretty sure.”

With the January transfer window looming, Guardiola kept his cards close to his chest when asked if he would look to add fresh faces after Silva moves on to pastures new.

However, the boss was quick to pay tribute to the embarrassment of riches currently at his disposal in the middle of the park.

“I think in (David Silva’s) position we won’t do anything,” he revealed in a press conference at the CFA.

“Maybe I will change my mind in the last six months, but I don’t think so.

“I have other priorities. Bernardo (Silva) can play there, Phil (Foden) is there, you have (Ilkay) Gundogan, Kevin (De Bruyne).

“They are my thoughts today, we will see.”
