Kevin De Bruyne says he expects Manchester City to improve our recent Champions League record.

The Blues play Schalke on Wednesday in Gelsenkirchen in the first leg of our last-16 tie having topped Group F back in December.

The furthest the Blues have made in the competition is the semi-finals back in 2016, a source of frustration for some who believe we could have fared better.

And although the Belgian admits the level in the Champions League is higher than in the Premier League, he has his eyes set on success.

“The level of champions league is higher than the premier league,” he said.

“Obviously we want to win as many games as possible but obviously it’s about winning the trophy.

“The record we have until now… hopefully we can make it better.”
