Pep Guardiola believes Thursday’s crunch Premier League clash with Liverpool is a ‘big opportunity’ for Manchester City.
The Blues will go into the first game of the New Year seven points behind the Merseysiders who currently top the Premier League table.
But, addressing the media at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said the visit of the Jurgen Klopp’s side represented a key chance for his players to reduce the deficit.
“The reality is clear. We are seven points down, so it is the second round of games and I have a feeling there is a big opportunity for us to reduce the gap,” said Guardiola.

“People are asking what we will do if we lose, but we are going to try to win the game, be there and have a chance to fight for the Premier League.
“If you relax against Liverpool it will be a mistake. You have to be aggressive. Everyone needs to take responsibility and be yourself. It’s what you have to do.
“It is a good challenge for us. We are focused on what we have to do to win the game. We are going to try and after we will analyse what is the game.”
