Pep Guardiola admitted he was pleased with his players' performance despite losing on penalties to Wolves and expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of the young members of his squad.

Pep Guardiola admitted he was pleased with his players’ performance and expressed his satisfaction with the efforts of the young members of his squad after the penalty shootout defeat to Wolves.

Ian Poveda and Adrian Bernabe both started the game and showed flashes of their ability against their defensively-minded opponents as they impressed the City boss with their attacking play.

“They played incredibly well today,” Guardiola said. “It is not easy to create chances.”

After 90 goalless minutes and a penalty shootout, it was Wolves that came out victorious, but Guardiola felt it was a game his side will learn from. 

“Everybody, not just the young players, made a good performance and we learn from that.”
