England boss Phil Neville has encouraged Georgia Stanway to express herself as he looks to get the best out of the Manchester City midfielder at the World Cup.
The 20-year-old travelled to France as one of the Lionesses most exciting prospects and Neville has advised the youngster to focus on enjoying the experience of her first major tournament at senior level.
“He’s been very supportive,” she said.
“He’s watched games at City and England and he says I need to play with a smile and express myself and that’s what I’ll continue doing.
“I’m only young, so I’ve got time, but I’m ready.”
Stanway, who made her tournament debut in the opening game against Scotland, also spoke of her experience at the 2018 U20 World Cup, where England finished third, but says the time has come for the senior side to claim the top prize.
