Pep Guardiola says Manchester City still have work to do in Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 second leg tie at home to Schalke.
The Blues will step out at the Etihad holding a 3-2 lead from the first leg in Germany three weeks ago.
And while Guardiola’s side have since won the Carabao Cup and are still competing for success on three other fronts, Schalke have suffered a tough time results-wise, losing their last three Bundesliga games, conceding 11 times and scoring just twice.
But given a series of shock results in the Champions League last 16 last week, Pep stressed the need for City to stay focused and alert as he and Ilkay Gundogan spoke at a pre-match press conference.
“My message is it is one game and completely different,” said the Blues boss.
“If you analyse the last one or two months, we are better in terms in of results. It’s 90 minutes - we still have a job to do.

“Imagine if they score inside five minutes – (or) a bad decision, red card, penalty… everything is open.
“That’s why it’s key to be focused - we are judging what happened in last fixture, we are favourites but it’s one game and anything can happen.
“Few people could expect (what’s happened) this round. United incredible (to win at Paris St Germain) and Ajax (at Real Madrid).”
