Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak declared Manchester City’s 2018/19 campaign ‘exceptional’ whilst also taking the opportunity to address recent criticisms and investigations in the first part of his season review with City TV’s Chris Bailey.
There was praise too for Vincent Kompany in a wide ranging interview in which the Chairman discussed both on and off the field matters, including the latest comments from Javier Tebas.
However, the Chairman began by reflecting with pride on this season’s achievements, after Pep Guardiola’s side became the first men’s team to win all four major English trophies.
“To go and compete in every competition that we participated in and to win every single one of them, apart from one, I think is exceptional,” he said.
“I am so proud of what’s been accomplished, it’s really tremendous.”
Addressing Tebas’ recent suggestion that City have had a negative impact transfers, the Chairman highlighted that none of our players feature in the top ten transfers of all time and went on to defend the Club from further negative commentary.
“I will not accept for this club to be used as a diversionary tactic on poor investment decisions from other clubs,” he added.
“People make decisions, they’ve got to live by them. We’ve managed ourselves well and we will be judged by facts and facts alone. This is a well-run club.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman provided a glowing summary of the departing Kompany’s time in Manchester and revealed we may seem him back at the Club in the future.
