Pep Guardiola was left full of praise for captain Vincent Kompany after the Belgian’s screamer was enough to seal all three points in our final home game of the season.

City secured a crucial 1-0 win in our penultimate game of the season thanks to Kompany’s second-half rocket from outside the box.

Not only did the goal prove to be enough to secure all three points but it was also our 100th goal in all competitions at the Etihad Stadium this season.

Of course, Pep was asked after the game about that incredible goal from the captain.

“At half time I tell Kompany to go shoot and put it in the net,” Pep joked.

“It was incredible. Football is unpredictable and sometimes we score goals in that way.

“There are important players in the club. Vinny has been here 10 years, unfortunately sometimes injured but when fit incredible player.

“He is real defender with personality and a leader, I am happy for him, for the club and everybody.”

The Blues dominated possession in the second-half as we pushed for that crucial winner and Pep went on to hail the all round performance from his side.

“Incredible performance. Incredible. I am so sorry but it was so good.

“We didn’t concede one corner or one shot on target. It was outstanding the way we played the second half, the character and the personality.”
