Pep Guardiola felt the free-kick that led to Newcastle's second goal was avoidable.

Pep Guardiola’s post-match press conference:

Here are Pep’s responses..

On the match: “It’s the game we expected, solid, with 10 players in the box, we played so well. We tried to win the game. Maybe they pushed a little bit, that situation didn’t happen too much. We played well and Dubravka made good saves. We arrived in front of the ball many times, unfortunately, we could not score.”

On the late equaliser: “We should have avoided the free kick we conceded. Shelvey made the difference. They had two shots on target, we conceded two goals.

On losing this fixture last season: “Last season, we played bad. We have a respect for all the teams. The way we play, we show that we want to win. To win what we have done in recent years, you cannot underestimate opponents.”

On possibly slipping further behind the leaders “It’s not a good idea to think about Premier League or how many points or games we need to win. Would make it more difficult. There is no time to talk about the title race. We have another opponent in front of us. Try to win games and see what happens.”
