Pep: ‘Let’s see where we are in February or March’
Pep Guardiola says City will keep calm and carry on regardless of the Premier League table.
The Catalan says all his team can do is keep trying and that if it is not enough this season, they will return and try to win it again next season.
“The only pressure we have is if we don’t win the Premier League, but we will keep trying,” says Pep.
“If we don’t win it his season, we are going to try and win it next season, but I know what happened to teams who won the Premier League the season after – it is so hard.
“We beat a very good side on Saturday, and we will keep trying but Liverpool are unstoppable and all we can do right now is prepare for Shakhtar in the Champions League.
“You ask ‘how is our spirit?’ – I say that when you are losing at Anfield or 1-0 down to Chelsea and you’ve seen what it was like – that is what I want to see.
“I’d like to be there, and we are nine points behind, but we are still in November with so many games to play.”
When asked if overhauling Liverpool this season would represent his biggest managerial feat, Pep said: “The biggest achievement of my career was last season, definitely.
“When I see my team not fighting, no desire or not trying I will say ‘I don’t like this team’ – but in 24 months, I have never seen that.
“What is important is the effort and the commitment. We will do our jobs and we will see what happens in January, February and March – we will see which position we find ourselves in.
“If we are far away, then we are far away, and we will try again next season.”
