Jill Scott has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours list in recognition of her services to women’s football.
Scott has won 146 caps for England’s Lionesses in a 13-year international career that has seen her play in two World Cup semi-finals and a European Championship final, plus the 2012 Olympics with Team Great Britain.
More than half of this year’s honours have gone to women, reflecting what has been a transformational 12 months for women’s sport.

One of Nick Cushing’s first signings when City turned professional in November 2013, the midfielder joined the Club from Everton where she enjoyed a seven-year spell after starting her career with hometown club Sunderland.
Now an integral part of Cushing’s side, the England star has clocked up 160 appearances in sky blue, helping City to six trophy successes: three Continental Tyres Cups, a Super League title and two FA Cups, plus consecutive Champions League semi-final spots.
Admired for her dedication, energy, hard work and skill, Scott has bagged 23 goals, including City’s first European goal and a memorable effort in the 2017 FA Cup final at Wembley.
