Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Sergio Aguero as the forward edges closer towards breaking yet another record in front of goal.

With 174 strikes to his name, our all-time leading scorer is one Premier League goal behind equaling Thierry Henry as the highest scoring foreign player in the competition’s history.

Guardiola acknowledged the magnitude of Aguero’s potential scoring feat and expressed what a joy it is to work with the Argentine ahead of our trip to Aston Villa.

He said: “(Aguero) will have scored more goals than a legend like Henry. It’s an incredible achievement.

“He adapted perfectly from the beginning. He is a guy in the box with a sense of goal. He can score from everywhere in multiple positions. He is an incredible striker. Incredible.”

City travel to the midlands aiming for a third Premier League win on the spin.

But the boss knows maximum points is far from a formality at Villa Park.

He said: “We have to play all the teams. Sometimes they’re at the top, sometimes in the middle, sometimes at the bottom. It’s a historic club.

“They changed their last set-up in the last game after the bad injury (to striker Wesley). We’ll try to maintain the dynamic we have.”
