Pep Guardiola says City will not move into the transfer market when David Silva leaves the Club.

The brilliant Spaniard is set to end a decade of fantastic service with the Club at the end of this season, but the City boss says there is no need to bring in new faces to fill the sizeable void he will leave behind.

“I said many times we won’t buy any player in this position because we have Phil,” said Pep.

“We trust him a lot and if we didn’t believe in him we might go to the market when David leaves but that is not the case - we trust Phil.

“That’s the only way to maintain the level as high as possible.

“Phil has played well and has enough minutes under his belt, but we have many, many in that position.

“He still has a lot of things to improve.

“Sometimes he needs time to understand what he needs to do; he has to be patient.”
