UNITED v CITY: Pep preview part 2

Pep Guardiola says Leroy Sane is making good progress as he recovers from the knee injury suffered last August.

The German winger has been a noticeable absentee this season along with Aymeric Laporte and the City manager is looking forward to the prospect of a fully fit squad at some stage in the next month.

“I think he is closer to training with us,” said Pep.

“I spoke to him two days ago and he is training a line with the ball and feels he handled it well.

“His knee looks good, so not too much time - maybe a few weeks. It was a different injury to Laporte, but both were serious - but I think it’s the last stages.”
