Raheem Sterling struck a dramatic injury time goal to earn City a priceless 2-1 win away at Bournemouth in their third Premier League game of the season.

The Blues had looked as though they would have to settle for a second successive draw, with Eddie Howe’s Cherries constantly frustrating the visitors after Gabriel Jesus had cancelled out Charlie Daniels’ early strike.

But in the seventh minute of stoppage time, Sterling came to City’s rescue – just as he did in last Monday’s home clash with Everton - firing home from close range to secure the three points.

The drama wasn’t over even then with referee Mike Dean – who showed 12 yellow cards in total – opting to send off Sterling after showing him a second yellow card after penalising him for his celebrations with City’s travelling fans.

It was a breathless encounter that summed up all that makes the Premier League such a compelling spectacle.
