Manchester City’s EDS and Academy teams ensured the opening weekend of their respective seasons ended unbeaten as they kicked off with a draw and a win.
Simon Davies’ side got underway on Friday night, playing out a 0-0 draw with Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.
In an even contest, the Blues’ keeper, Daniel Grimshaw and his opposite number starred to deny both sets of forwards, with a Lukas Nmecha header the closest the home side came to taking the lead.
Gareth Taylor’s side got off to a winning start in the U18 Premier League the following day, thanks to Nabil Touaizi and Henri Ogubny, who both struck as the young Blues came from behind to beat Newcastle.
