Ederson and Kyle Walker make City debuts in an historic US Tour opener against Manchester United in Houston

Manchester City took part in a historic first-ever overseas Manchester derby as they took on neighbours United in their opening US Tour clash.

More than 67,000 fans flocked to the NRG Stadium in Houston as Pep Guardiola’s men got their pre-season preparations underway with a 2-0 loss to the Reds.

Despite the defeat however, there were positives aplenty for the City manager – not least a superb display from 17-year-old Phil Foden, who was making his first-team debut for the Club, with Guardiola hailing the teenager’s assured display afterwards.

The match also saw Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson and new right-back Kyle Walker also make their City debuts, with Guardiola also full of praise for their performances.

Following the United match, the City squad then flew onto Los Angeles where the tour will continue with their second pre-season clash against European champions Real Madrid.
