Lucy Bronze‘s first-half header was enough for Manchester City Women as they booked their place in the Champions League semi-final with a 2-0 aggregate win over Fortuna Hjorring.

The defender got herself on the end of Melissa Lawley’s corner four minutes before half-time, to put the Blues one up on the night and two ahead in the tie.

It was more than enough for Nick Cushing’s charges to secure their first appearance in the last four of the competition, who were largely untroubled by the away side’s attacks.

City controlled much of the game, with Jill Scott and Carli Lloyd both going close in the opening stages, before Bronze put them in the driving seat with her looping header.

The victory sets up an exciting semi-final encounter with current European champions, Lyon.
