Manchester City U19s maintained their 100% start in the UEFA Youth League with a 3-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Academy Stadium.
Joel Latibeaudiere, Phil Foden and Taylor Richards were on target for the Blues, with skipper Volodymyr Yakimets netting for the visitors.
It was a competent display from Simon Davies’ team, who were made to work hard for the lead as Shakhtar sat deep in the opening period.
City dominated proceedings and eventually got their reward as Latibeaudiere powered home Foden’s centre just before the interval.
It was the midfielder’s turn next as he followed up the rebound to Brahim Diaz’s effort to extend the lead.
The away side’s captain hit a sweetly struck effort minutes later to reduce the deficit, but Richards made sure of the three points as he stroked home Foden’s pass late on.
