Manchester City opened their Champions League group campaign in fine style as they powered their way to a 4-0 win at Feyenoord.
Defender John Stones scored twice with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus also on target as Pep Guardiola’s side swept aside the challenge of the Dutch champions in impressive fashion.
It was pretty much the perfect night for City who hardly broke sweat at the back and were in control of the game from the moment Stones opened the scoring in the second minute with a header.
City went in at the break 3-0 to the good with Aguero and Jesus adding to Stones’ opener and the England defender then rounded off the scoring with a powerful header midway through the second half.
“I was just happy to help with the goals and it was a great start to our Champions League campaign,” said the 23-year-old.
City return to Champions League action in just under a fortnight when they entertain Ukrainian side Shakhtar Dontesk.
