Manchester City will have to wait a little longer to be crowned Premier League champions following what was a dramatic 176th Manchester derby.
With Pep Guardiola’s side needing victory to be confirmed title winners, the Blues looked firmly on course for glory after storming into a 2-0 lead at the Etihad after a superb first-half.
Goals from Vincent Kompany – who powered home a header almost identical to the one which downed United 1-0 in our famous 2012 win – and Ilkay Gundogan had left the visitors reeling.
However, United staged a shock second-half fightback with Paul Pogba scoring twice in three minutes to level the scores before Chris Smalling struck the winner.
City threw everything at United late on with substitute Sergio Aguero frustrated by an amazing David De Gea save and also denied what looked a strong shout for a penalty after a challenge by Ashley Young.
