City’s defence of the FA Cup kicked off in style, as the holders claimed a 2-0 triumph at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Claire Emslie strike separated the sides at Culver Road, as the holders visited Hope Powell’s WSL 2 outfit in our third game in a week.

The visitors broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, as Christiansen rifled home Jane Ross’ lay-off.

Emslie doubled the advantage on 66 minutes, skipping past her marker and drilling into the near post.

Nick Cushing’s side will play Birmingham away in the fifth round on Sunday 18 February (kick-off time to be confirmed).
