The Blues became the first team in the Premier League to prevent Liverpool scoring this season and the result was enough to move City back to the summit above Chelsea, who had gone top earlier on Sunday, on goal difference.
City could have secured victory after being awarded an 86th minute penalty when substitute Leroy Sane was brought down in the box. However, Riyad Mahrez was off target from the spot-kick.
The Premier League now takes a two-week break for the international window with City next in action on October 20th when we entertain Burnley..
