Manchester City fell to a frustrating 3-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.
Pep Guardiola’s side were rocked by goals from Fabinho and Mohamed Salah inside the opening 15 minutes and went further behind when Sadio Mane added a third.
Bernardo Silva pulled one back with a sweetly struck effort in the 78th minute and though City kept pushing until the final whistle, we were unable to produce a comeback that would have rescued a point.
It was a disappointing day for the defending champions, who created a number of goal scoring opportunities and saw two penalty appeals waved away after the ball had appeared to strike Trent Alexander-Arnold’s arm.
Sergio Aguero drew a good save from Alisson, while Angelino saw his effort strike the post as Liverpool’s clinical display proved enough to take all three points.
