Manchester City U18s are through to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals after a hard fought 1-0 win over Fulham at the Academy Stadium.

Lewis Fiorini was the match winner, curling into the bottom corner from 18-yards early in the first half to set up a last eight tie with Burnley.

Against a physical Fulham outfit, Gareth Taylor’s side were made to work hard for the victory in a game of few chances.

Luke Mbete-Tabu made a crucial block from Fulham’s 23-goal striker Jay Stansfield in the first half, whilst at the other end, Morgan Rogers could have put the game beyond doubt had he not fired into the side netting from six-yards.

It made for a nervy finale for the boys in Blue and goalkeeper Ciaran Slicker was required to make a stunning save from point blank range to ensure City’s cup campaign continued.
