Manchester City U18s moved into the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Lewis Fiorini and Morgan Rogers got the goals for Gareth Taylor’s side, who raced into an early lead but were unable to capitalise any further.

Villa came into the game more in the second half, Tyreik Wright netting late on to set up a nerve-jangling final few minutes, but City held on and were good value for the win.

Fiorini gave us the lead in sixth minute, drilling home after Jayden Braaf picked him out with a perfectly weighted pass.

Braaf was again involved as City grabbed a second. The Dutchman saw his fierce drive parried by Villa ‘keeper Viljani Sinisalo, but Rogers was well placed to convert the rebound from six-yards.

Sinisalo made several smart saves as Taylor’s side pushed for a third, but it was the visitors who struck next when Wright picked up out the bottom right corner with five minutes remaining.
