Ahead of the FA Cup 3rd round weekend, we go back to 2020 as City hosted League 2 side Port Vale...

The Blues booked a place in the fourth round of the competition with a comfortable 4-1 victory over The Valiants at the Etihad Stadium.

Two Academy graduates, Man of the Match Phil Foden and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, were on the scoresheet, as Pep Guardiola‘s men made the perfect start to the defence of the trophy won at Wembley Stadium the previous May.

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s deflected 25-yard strike opened the scoring, before Vale’s Tom Pope bulleted an impressive header beyond Claudio Bravo to net a surprise equaliser.

It was as close to a scare as City came, with Sergio Aguero restoring our lead before the break.

Harwood-Bellis made it three with his first goal for the Club, as he got the slightest of touches on John Stones’ shot, which was given after a lengthy VAR stoppage to check whether the-then 17-year-old was offside.

Then Foden, who impressed throughout, wrapped things up as he converted Angelino’s centre from close range.
