Sergio Aguero struck his eighth goal in five games to fire City to a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Sheffield United.

Aguero came off the bench to net the match winner, tapping home Kevin De Bruyne’s stunning cross from inside the six-yard box late in the second half.

It was a good night all round for City with Aymeric Laporte back for his first appearance in five months after his recovery from a serious knee injury.

City also saw Gabriel Jesus’ first half penalty saved by the impressive Dean Henderson in the first half of a keenly fought contest.

Aguero’s goal deservedly rewarded the visitors’ attacking endeavour against a stubborn Blades’ defence, as we stretched our unbeaten run to seven matches and move six points clear of third placed Leicester City.
