City begin our 2026 FA Cup campaign on Saturday with an intriguing third round assignment at home to League One side Exeter.

It’s a competition that holds an extra special place in City history.

To date, the Club have lifted the famous trophy on seven occasions.

And one of our most famous and fondly remembered successes came in 2011 when, under the stewardship of Roberto Mancini, the Blues beat Stoke City 1-0 at Wembley to claim the silverware.

It was not only a seismic moment that ended a 35-year wait for City to lift a major trophy.

It was also a triumph that kick-started what has turned into the most sustained period of success in our long and illustrious history with City going on to rewrite the English record books under the leadership of Pep Guardiola, including recording two further FA Cup triumphs to date in 2019 and 2023.

The course of that 2011 FA Cup campaign saw many standout moments, not least a famous 1-0 semi-final win over Manchester United as well as that triumph over the Potters.

So, to mark the advent of this season’s FA Cup – and by way of celebrating the 15th anniversary of that Stoke success  - we have delved into the archives to revisit the journey of that magical and memorable 2011 triumph.
