Erling Haaland stroked us ahead from the penalty spot shortly before half-time, claiming his 20th Premier League goal of the season and his 150th across all competitions in his City career so far.
Shortly after the break, skipper Bernardo struck the outside of the post, before Karou Mitoma’s precise finish levelled for the Seagulls on the hour mark.
Haaland saw a golden opportunity in the final 10 minutes saved by Bart Verbruggen as we stretched our unbeaten run to 11 games, with three successive draws to start 2026.
Ake voiced his frustration at being unable to claim all three points at the Etihad, but was impressed with the showing of young Alleyne, who was only recalled from a loan spell at Watford earlier this week.
“They [Alleyne and Abdukodir Khusanov] did great. Especially Max, only training with us once yesterday,” said Ake in his interview with City Studios.
“Coming in straight away and playing like that. So hats off to him, he’s been fantastic today.
“Hopefully we can keep it going like that and win the next game for sure.
“Maybe, we were getting used to each other a bit, it’s normal. But I think in the end we corrected it, especially in the pressing. Because of that we had some good recoveries of the ball high up the pitch and it went a bit better. Because of that we created some good chances.
“I think if we scored those, it’s a different game.”
