Alvarez was overjoyed for Foden, who was named Man of the Match in his landmark appearance.

“He’s really important for us,” said Alvarez.

“It’s not easy to get that many appearances for City. He’s really helping us and I’m really happy for him.

“I’m very happy, we need to keep amassing points, it’s a long season.

“I’m very happy with the performance and the three points.”
