We rounded off the group stage in perfect fashion, beating Sevilla 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium with Alvarez grabbing one goal and two assists in a wonderful attacking display.

The Argentine admitted his delight with the campaign so far and is keen for more to come.

“I think we did well. We are happy with the performance in the group stage.

“Every game is important for us and carrying on winning is good for the confidence of the players.

“Especially today for example with players who usually play less minutes.

“So I think it is important for all of us to keep on winning.”
