Pep Guardiola praised City’s 3,000 away fans who made the journey to the Emirates.

Many could barely watch the final tense minutes as the Blues looked set to record a superb away win until Gabriel Martinelli’s added time equaliser snatched a 1-1 draw for the hosts.

Before analysing his team’s performance, the boss said: “I said many times to the team, our away fans are special and they came here for the effort, the travel, the tickets, it’s not easy, and you have to have a huge respect for them.”

Focusing on the game, Pep added: “Tough week. Thursday, Sunday coming to London like this is so demanding.

“Difficult for time to focus on recovery, especially against this team. This is by far one of the best teams in Europe.

“Our resilience was fantastic otherwise we cannot survive. We gave away chances in transitions because it’s difficult because we cannot play the way we want to play.

“We are not able to make a good build up and our pressing is ineffective because they spread a lot the two structures.

“Because they have the ability to put int he ball behind with fast players with Martinelli, Saka, Trossard, Madueke.

“It’s a pity, but it’s football. Last season we equalised in the last minute at the Etihad, this time they did it. But it’s football.

“We take a point and in general a really good week.”
