Coaches from City in the Community delivered training to 26 Young Leaders from Atlanta in partnership with local charity Soccer in the Streets.
The course combined on pitch sessions with classroom workshops designed to equip young community coaches with key skills in leadership, community football, project management and social impact.
To celebrate Atlanta’s cultural identity, the Young Leaders were invited on a guided visit to Stankonia Studios, an iconic landmark in the city’s music scene.
The experience explored the relationship between music and soccer to highlight how both can inspire creativity, expression and community connection.
After days of training and workshops, the Young Leaders had the opportunity to apply their new skills in a real-world setting.
They delivered engaging sessions to children from their community, creating a safe and inclusive environment for young people to play soccer through energisers, small group activities and creative games.
Soccer in the Streets plays a crucial role in providing access to safe, community centred pitches, supporting Young Leaders, and creating pathways for youth development across Atlanta.
Through grant funding and year-round free soccer programming, they help deliver City’s community project in Atlanta to uplift the health of young people through soccer.
