In the latest instalment of our ‘My first season’ series, Aymeric Laporte looks back on his first months as a City player.

The defender joined City from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018, midway through our record-breaking Centurions season.

Laporte was quickly up to speed, taking part in a training session on the day of his signing and making his debut the following day in the 3-0 victory over West Brom.

He would go on to make a total of nine Premier League appearances, winning them all, as City became the first Club to reach 100 points.

Joining halfway through the campaign, Laporte had to wait to the start of the new season for his first goal, which came in August 2018 in the 1-1 draw with Wolves at Molineux.

By then, he had already helped City to yet another trophy when we beat Chelsea 2-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley.
