Aymeric Laporte has revealed just how difficult it is to return from an injury in order to play professional football.

Our defender is currently with Spain at the 2022 World Cup and was the subject of a recent CITY+ and Recast documentary charting his rise from a small town to the very top of the game.

The 28-year-old missed the first eight matches of the current Premier League season following knee surgery this summer but has since recovered to become a key part of both Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique’s sides.

In this snippet of the Laporte: ABC documentary, he talks about coming back from his injury and another major change in his life recently, becoming a father back in August.

On getting back to his best, he says: “Big injuries and surgery is always very difficult to come back from.

“You need to work very hard and have good people around to make the best recovery you can do.

“Here we have the best men who know when you have to work hard and when you have to rest.”
