City’s midfield marvel came out on top ahead of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham who finished second and third on a memorable evening for the Blues.
The 28-year-old became the first City player ever to win the famous award as he collected the trophy at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
He received a standing ovation as he was called on stage by hosts Didier Drogba and Sandy Heribert before being handed the proud personal accolade by 1995 winner and former City striker George Weah.
Among our other nominees, Erling Haaland was placed at No.5, Ruben Dias was announced at No.23 while Foden finished as No.11 in the men’s award.
Meanwhile three of our women’s players – Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp, Khadija Shaw – were amongst those vying for the Ballon d’Or Feminin prize.
Hemp finished No.28, Hasegawa came in at No.26 and Shaw was No.15 with Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati taking home the prize for the second year in succession.
City manager Pep Guardiola was amongst the contenders for the Men’s Coach of the Year award after another magnificent season at the Etihad helm but Carlo Ancelotti emerged victorious in that category.
And City were in the running once again for the prestigious Men’s Club of the Year prize following a historic 2023/24 campaign but Real Madrid came out on top on the night.
Meanwhile, young Brazilian star Savinho finished fourth in the Kopa Trophy, which was eventually collected by Spanish Euro 2024 winner Lamine Yamal.
